What Makes Our Childbirth Education Classes Special?
As a birth doula, over the years I have learned from my client’s what information they were getting about birth from their hospital childbirth education classes. At our one-on-one prenatal visits, I would listen to all the questions they didn’t feel comfortable asking in the large group setting of the hospital classes where they were being taught by an unfamiliar face. I realized how much was left out, confused, or simply forgotten (sitting in an eight-hour Saturday class is not the best way to retain information)… and I decided our doula team needed to start offering our own classes to clients in order to feel confident they were going into their birth fully prepared for anything birth can throw at them!
